Time Period for Landlord to Increase Rent BC
Regarding the timing for BC rent increases, landlords are only permitted to raise rents once within a 12-month span. Such increases may only occur 12 months after one of the following events:

- The last lawful rent increase.
This regulation remains in effect even if there is a change in the landlord or a new tenant via assignment.

Notice of Rent Increase in BC
BC Landlords are required to provide tenants with a notification of a rent increase that covers a period of three full rental months.
When a fixed-term tenancy agreement concludes, and the tenant continues to reside in the unit, the landlord is limited to raising the rent once every 12 months. Additionally, the increment in rent must not surpass the maximum allowable amount.
Itโs important to note that landlords are prohibited from seeking an additional rent increase if the current rent is lower than that of comparable units in the vicinity.
